The Drilldown: Oil prices fall after attack on Saudi Arabian oil site

iPolitics By iPolitics. Published on Mar 8, 2021 11:39am The Lead   Oil prices have slipped after climbing above US$70 a barrel for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fall comes after attacks from Yemen’s Houthi forces on Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura oil site, Reuters reports. “There are no reports of lasting damage or disruptions to oil flows … today’s risk premium will soon fade,” said Norbert Rucker, analyst at Swiss bank Julius Baer. The attack occurred Sunday, just days after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries’ (OPEC) decision to continue with output cuts despite rising crude prices.
