Nearly 125 years ago, Epworth Children s Home was founded in Columbia to serve struggling families and children. Epworth is a Children s home was established in 1896 as an orphanage by Methodist people of South Carolina and the City of Columbia, said Rev. John Holler, president and CEO of Epworth Childrenâs Home. Throughout its history its served families and children who often are struggling and especially children who have been displaced through death or maybe the families just donât have the resources where the children can live.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The holidays are a special time to spend with family, but for the thousands of kids in foster care across South Carolina, the holidays can be a difficult time.
One organization is stepping up to make sure the holidays are special for every foster child here in the Midlands. On Saturday, dozens of foster families came to the Midlands Foundation for Foster Children drive-thru Christmas party, complete with gifts, a Christmas meal, and a visit from Santa.
