Addressing the energy crisis while tabling his department’s budget on Tuesday, the Energy Minister said while renewable energy is starting to become available, there are grid constraints limiting the country’s ability to ease the crisis.
Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe emphasised that despite government being dragged to court, they would go ahead with oil and gas exploration.
Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede said thousands of megawatts in wind capacity sourced from renewable companies could not be allocated to the grid as a result.
