Nearly four inches of snow Wednesday afternoon caused treacherous roads and dozens of wrecks, including at least two injuries, on Interstate 80 in Mercer County and other local roads.Â
The onslaught of I-80 crackups began early in the afternoon and continued throughout the day, as slick snow created hazardous conditions. At one point in the early evening, an 11-mile section of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the heavily traveled highway were closed in Mercer County, PennDOT reported.
