Mum who escaped prison after scamming holidaymakers branded a disgrace Lauren Wise & Lee Grimsditch
People reacted angrily to a mum escaping a jail sentence despite defrauding thousands of pounds out of innocent people. She took deposits from 25 people who were expecting a holiday to Cyprus, which was advertised on Facebook and by word of mouth in 2017.
But when the holidays were cancelled the 42-year-old refused to pay back the money, pocketing a total of £46,691.76 for herself. A judge at Liverpool Crown Court said the only reason he wasn t sending her straight to prison was because of her five children. When we ran the story, people took to Facebook and the ECHO website to vent their fury at the lack of a jail sentence.
