With spring finally here, area farmers can get back into the fields to seed crops with optimism.
According to the County of Grande Prairie Agricultural Fieldman Sonja Raven, seeding progress looks very promising.

“(Seeding) is nice this year, we aren’t battling floating tractors, and we aren’t having to finish harvest before we seed,” Raven said. “It is going quite well. Most of the people I have talked to are about halfway done.

The countdown to Christmas continues as we’re just eight days away from the big day! Today also marked our final pre-holiday edition of Made In Alberta. Today’s group met at a high school talent contest in Grande Prairie in 1995. After being impressed with each other’s skills, they decided to form a group and named themselves 12 Gauge. They got off to a hot start, winning a Battle Of The Bands contest in ’96 and earning the opportunity to record their album “Open Season”. The album got them noticed across the country and they were soon touring Canada. In the late 90’s, they made the move to Nashville. Upon arrival, they realized there was already a rap group named 12 Gauge so a new name was needed. They decided to name themselves after the Emerson Trail that crosses Western Alberta and thus, Emerson Drive was born.
