Public urged to seek treatment for non-urgent cases at health centres

 14 May 2021 - 11:51 File photo Fazeena Saleem | The Peninsula Health authorities have encouraged the public to differentiate between emergency and non-urgent conditions while the seeking health services, especially during Eid Al Fitr holidays. Dr. Abdulnasir Howaidi, Sr. Consultant, Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital (HGH), said people should seek treatment at health centres for conditions such as flu-like symptoms, mild burns, toothache, skin irritation, earache, and backache. Emergency services should be required for conditions such as suspected stroke, severe allergic reaction, broken bones, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, severe burn or bleeding and seizures. Dr. Howaidi said that some 328 cases were seen during the first 12 hours on the first day of Eid and about more than 50% of patients brought by the Ambulance Service came inside the hospital in a wheelchair.

HMC emergency, trauma services continue offering lifesaving care  05 May 2021 - 8:46 By Fazeena Saleem | The Peninsula Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the main healthcare provider in the country, has ensured that all the healthcare services including medical emergencies continue in a safe environment despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic. Doctors and nurses across HMC trauma and emergency departments continue to offer lifesaving care to all people with medical emergencies. The Ambulance Services are safely transporting patients with medical emergencies. Also, walk-in patients are received and are triaged by the nursing team and guided to appropriate area and level of care. A separate area is designed and dedicated to care of patients suspected of COVID-19 and it helps in patients getting the appropriate care by physicians and nurses, said Dr. Mohammad Shuaib Afzal, Assistant Chief, Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital.
