Planners Deny Endorsement To Megansett Road Property Division Plan

The Bourne Planning Board chose not to endorse a plan for division of property on Megansett Road being sold by the Animal Rescue League of Boston. The planned division will become certified in 21 days, but without the support of board members. The property located at 55 Megansett Road in Cataumet is under a purchase and sales agreement between the Animal Rescue League and Cape Cod Building Inc. of Sharon. The developer submitted a plan to divide the 18 acres into eight one-acre lots and one 10-acre lot. The proposed division of the property initially went before the planning board on May 27. The applicant requested endorsement of their plan for dividing the land under Section 81P of Massachusetts state law.

Bourne Planning Board Defers Decision On Dog Training Facility

The Bourne Planning Board has deferred making a decision on approving a dog training facility in downtown Buzzards Bay. Board members decided to continue the matter until a site visit could be held that would provide members with additional information about the business and its location. The matter was taken up by the planning board during its remote Zoom meeting May 27. The business, To the Rescue Canine Training, would open in the building at 10 St. Margaret’s Street in Buzzards Bay. The building currently houses Bubba’s Motor Sports. Assistant town planner Jennifer Copeland explained to the board that the use table for the downtown business district does not include dog training facilities. Ms. Copeland added that, if the board were to permit the use of the building for the business, it would have to determine that the use “will not be detrimental to other uses within the district or to the adjoining land uses.”

Bourne Planning Board Approves Change To Main Street Complex

The Bourne Planning Board has approved a change to a development under construction on Main Street in Buzzards Bay. The board gave the green light to plans for the building’s first floor to become a disabled-accessible apartment instead of office space. The complex is being built at 227 Main Street, which neighbors Betty Ann’s Dairy Freeze. The original proposal was to convert a five-bedroom home into office space on the first floor and a pair of two-bedroom apartments on the second floor. Plans for the property have changed, and instead of office space on the first floor, the property owner, James McLaughlin of West Bridgewater, has decided to install a disabled-accessible apartment. Zachary Basinski of Bracken Engineering went before the planning board during its remote meeting on April 22 to explain the desired change.
