The Secretary for Education said earlier that local schools should teach the Chinese language in Putonghua, if certain conditions can be met.
Christine Choi said Hong Kong youth would be at a disadvantage if they can t speak Putonghua, and lose out on opportunities offered by the mainland s rapid development.
Currently, schools teach the Chinese subject in both Cantonese and Putonghua.
