No. 32 Clemson Falls to No. 22 Georgia Tech

CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 32 Clemson women’s tennis team (15-9, 3-8 ACC) dropped a close battle to No. 22 Georgia Tech on Saturday at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The Tigers needed to take multiple third sets in order to win the match and couldn’t quite do so to complete the upset.  Clemson came out strong to start the day, as the doubles pair of Eleni Louka and Sophia Hatton took down the No. 69 tandem in the country, 6-3. Dani Medvedeva and Cristina Mayorova earned Clemson the doubles point with a 7-5 win over the No. 63 tandem, and Jenna Thompson and Leigh Van Zyl earned a 7-6 (7-5) win to close out the doubles sweep. Alexandra Anttila kept the ball rolling in singles, earning a quick 6-1, 6-3 victory to advance to 6-0 on the season. Georgia Tech won the next three matches to take a 3-2 lead, leaving the game up to Louka’s and Hatton’s third sets. Tigers Split Doubleheader on Sunday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 46 Clemson women’s tennis team split its Sunday doubleheader with No. 51 Boston College and Chattanooga at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The Tigers fell to the Eagles 4-1 before taking down the Mocs 5-2 to close out the day. The Tigers moved to 13-7 overall and 2-6 in conference play.  “Members of team 48 showed resiliency and what a championship mindset looks like after disappointment,” said Head Coach Amy Sargeant on the day’s events. Those players took ownership of the culture change and refused to give in. We continue to learn and grow, and be bold with our actions.”  Boston College took the doubles point to get out to an early lead, and carried its momentum into singles with two consecutive victories. Clemson looked primed to make a comeback, as Sophia Hatton earned a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win for the Tigers’ first point. Tigers Topple No. 25 Syracuse

CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 46 Clemson women’s tennis team (12-6, 2-5 ACC) pulled off an impressive 6-1 victory over the No. 25 Syracuse Orange on Friday at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The Tigers came out hot to win the doubles point and followed that up with four straight-set victories in singles play to snap a six-match losing streak.  “Today's win came down to dedication and commitment to the process,” remarked Head Coach Amy Sargeant. “It’s really easy to back down when you take multiple losses in a row, but not this team, not today.” The doubles pair of Jenna Thompson and Leigh Van Zyl as well as the pairing of Cristina Mayorova and Dani Medvedeva each earned 6-3 victories to put the Tigers up early.
