Many customers have been receiving letters allegedly by the ministry of power urging them to update their electricity bills immediately in order to avoid disconnection.
A PIL had been filed in the court stating that these families have been in India on long-term visa and have been provided Aadhar cards but have no electricity in their slums.
The company has appealed to religious festival committees and consumers that they should go for light decoration at pandals and tableaux and seek temporary electricity connection.
