Support funds have been set up across wider Wairarapa. Elaine Leggott’s Doing a Good Deed page on Facebook has bank account details for donations that will go into a fund for the family. “People in the community on the page said ‘what are we going to do for the family?’, so I started something up.” Leggott, who does not know the family personally, said there has been a “huge outpouring” of support because these tragedies hit home for everyone, it only takes a split second and everything is changed. She said she hoped that the money they were raising could be used to go towards any costs at this tragic time.
