Girl, 15, shot, killed by 12-year-old who thought gun was unloaded, police say

The names of those involved were not released.
The shooting was reported at 1:42 p.m. Sunday, May 16, on Maple Street in Cass County’s Ontwa Township, east of Niles.
A witness told police that the gun was taken from a safe. It was believed to be unloaded, Ontwa Township - Edwardsburg police reported. The 12-year-old pointed the gun at the 15-year-old and pulled the trigger, police said.
