Beachwood man admits to running illegal lottery, failing to pay taxes
A Beachwood man admitted Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Newark to running an illegal lottery and failing to pay more than $65,000 in taxes on his earnings over the course of five years.
Edward O’Neill, 54, of Beachwood, pleaded guilty by videoconference before U.S. District Judge Brian R. Martinotti to managing an illegal gambling business and subscribing to a false tax return.
O’Neill managed the illegal lottery in Hudson County between 2014 and 2019, basing it on the numbers picked in the New Jersey Lottery’s Pick-6, the U.S. Attorney s Office in Newark said in a release.
