Michigan Senate Subpoenas Documents Over Gov. Whitmer's Handling of Nursing Homes

Michigan Senate Subpoenas Documents Over Gov. Whitmer’s Handling of Nursing Homes The Michigan Senate Oversight Committee issued a subpoena Thursday requiring documents relating to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s handling of nursing homes during the pandemic after its initial request had been ignored for more than two months. The committee issued a subpoena to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) asking for all documents and communications relating to COVID-19 policies and information, including policies involving long-term, congregate care facilities. Oversight Committee chairman Edward McBroom said during the meeting that the committee sent out the initial request on March 2 and a follow-up request on April 8, but thus far, “we’ve received completely nothing.”

Senate Oversight Committee chair wants Benson to attend hearing

Senate Oversight Committee chair wants Benson to attend hearing David Eggert/AP and last updated 2021-04-05 13:13:20-04 LANSING, Mich. — GOP members of the Michigan Senate Oversight Committee are asking Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to testify at a hearing in the coming weeks. Act 341 Amendments To Residential Builders Occupational Code Address When a Builder Needs a Residential Builder's License | Clark Hill PLC

To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: Michigan’s Occupational Code (“Code”) requires builders of residential structures to be licensed as a residential builder.   Under the Code, the definition of “residential structure” is very broad and includes almost any type of structure that can be considered a “residence.”  Builders who construct a residential structure without a Residential Builder’s License are subject to sanctions, including being prohibited from suing in the State’s courts and from recording and foreclosing on a construction lien. The definition of “residential structure” in the Code is defined to be: “A premise used or intended to be used for a residential purpose and related facilities pertinent to the premises, used or intended to be used as an adjunct of residential occupancy.”
