Denise Marie (Soukup) Berilla, 71, of Lewes Beach died peacefully in her sleep Monday, April 19, 2021. She was born Dec. 1, 1949, in Maynard, Ohio.
Denise was one of five daughters, and from an early age, loved grocery shopping with her mom Anne. Her love of food and cooking only grew. She went to college and earned a bachelor of science in home economics from The Ohio State University. Denise met the love of her life, David, during college, and he courted her in his GTO and white socks. They were married in 1970.
They moved to Springfield, Ohio, and had their first daughter Anna, and within three years moved to Gunnison, Colo., where their second daughter, Jennifer, was born. Denise rejoiced in being a mother and making a home. She was a seamstress and would make her daughters matching clothes and husband a matching tie with the leftover material. She was one of the first foodies and loved world cuisine and sharing her talent for cooking with

Raffle tickets available for four-day getaway

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians will be selling raffle tickets for a four-day Ocean City, Md. weekend getaway, a $1,500 value, Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11, after the masses at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach.
Raffle tickets will sell for $10 each or three for $25. Income from the raffle will be donated to local charities.
The winner will stay in a three-bedroom, two-bath, no-smoking condo just 100 feet from the beach. Weekend dates to be negotiated will occur between Friday, May 28 and Monday, Sept. 27. The winner must be at least 21.
