2021 Children's Book Week Gets a Jump on Festivities

2021 Children s Book Week Gets a Jump on Festivities By Pamela Brill | Apr 06, 2021 One month ahead of its official launch date, this year’s Children’s Book Week is unveiling a host of activities and resources now available online for registered participants. Of note are the 19 book creators who have been tapped to lend their voices and artistic abilities to the 2021 event. “The theme, “Reading Is a Superpower,” has inspired us to empower young people. We really want them to start exploring their superpowers in April, so they can celebrate themselves, their own stories and the books they love,” said Shaina Birkhead, associate executive director of the Children’s Book Council and Every Child a Reader.

CBC and Every Child a Reader Unveil 2021 Children's Book Week Superpower Theme

CBC and Every Child a Reader Unveil 2021 Children s Book Week Superpower Theme By Pamela Brill | Jan 28, 2021 There’s no need for kids to don a cape or leap tall buildings in a single bound to take part in the 2021 Children Book Week festivities, but a passion for reading surely helps. This year’s celebration, hosted by Every Child a Reader and the Children’s Book Council, will follow the theme “Reading Is a Superpower,” as a nod to the educators, librarians, booksellers, and caregivers who have encouraged kids to continue reading during the pandemic. The biannual event will take place May 3–9 and November 8–14 and will include a brand-new initiative, the Superpower Challenge, to drive further interest in this program.
