The second session of the three-part series will take place on Feb. 18 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and will teach participants how to dance Bachata, which originated in the Dominican Republic. The classes are free and open to all skill levels, but participants must register in advance at www.dancecaliente.us. The Salem-based Lappin Foundation is holding a virtual live screening on Feb. 8 of the film “Space Torah,” about the copy of the sacred text that astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman brought with him aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia. Bridgewater news briefs Bridgewater, Taunton police departments receive $64K in grants Dean of the Massachusetts Senate Marc R. Pacheco, D-Taunton, announced that the Bridgewater Police Department and Taunton Police Department were selected to receive over $64,000 in total federal grant funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.   The Bridgewater Police Department and Taunton Police Department will respectively receive grants of $24,998 and $40,000 to reduce vehicle crashes, injuries, losses of life and associated economic costs.    “I am very pleased to announce that grants of $24,998 and $40,000 have been awarded to the police departments of Bridgewater and Taunton for improving the safety of our local roadways,” said Pacheco. “These valuable resources will help local law enforcement cover the cost of critical equipment upgrades and traffic enforcement campaigns that help keep officers safe and save lives. North Easton Savings Bank makes second food pantry donation of $30K Community Content North Easton Savings Bank recently donated $30,000 across several food pantries located in communities the bank serves throughout southeastern Massachusetts. This donation followed an earlier contribution of $30,000 to the same food pantries, which was made in the spring during the initial height of the pandemic. Typically, North Easton Savings Bank gives a total of $30,000 in support of community food pantries over the course of one year, but recognizing the importance of continuing to support local food pantries during this time, the bank made the decision to double its annual commitment to $60,000.
