EASTON, Texas (KLTV) - A Gregg County church is facing foreclosure, and the realtor who had to deliver the bad news is now trying to keep the Easton Church of Christ in the hands of its members.
Easton Church of Christ Pastor George Jones and Realtor Mark Coleman are working together to keep the church from being sold.
Pastor Jones says the news came at a time when church attendance had dropped because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
EASTON â Near-freezing temperatures didnât discourage the congregation of Easton Church of God from holding their live nativity Friday night, Dec. 18. It was a chilly 33 degrees, but spirits were warm and friendly as volunteers ushered cars filled with visitors into two lanes at the beginning of the circular drive at the church in effort to keep from blocking Washington Street.
The approach to the live nativity was lined with inflated holiday characters and lights. In this COVID-safe holiday event, visitors remained in their cars as they drove past scenes from the life of Jesus brought to life by parishioners dressed in costumes. The lanes of cars merged back into one as they approached the vignettes so each family had a clear view of each scene, which included broadcast Bible verses.
