Boston opposition seeks to sever fresh alliance with East Lindsey

Councillors in Boston are threatening to derail an alliance with East Lindsey through a judicial review, it has been revealed.
ELDC leaders however were not concerned by the news as the authority voted 33 for and 11 against to pass the agreement which should see £15.4m saved over 10 years.
Following a vote to approve the latest move at Full Council last night, the alliance officially came into effect today (July 1).
It will see the two councils sharing Chief Executive Rob Barlow and other senior officers as part of a wider move to join workforces over the next few years.
Council leaders in Lincolnshire butted heads over devolution plans in 2020.
A government letter rejecting the Greater Lincolnshire devolution bid has backed the district councils’ argument that it’s not the right time for local reorganisation, leaders have said.
The letter from Housing Minister and Newark MP Robert Jenrick turning down the plans was addressed to Conservative MPs in our region. It announced devolution plans for Cumbria, North Yorkshire and Somerset.
However, in response to other applications, Mr Jenrick said: “Given the pressures councils face this winter with the pandemic, I believe it would not be right at this time for them to further progress or focus on ideas for reform.

The Post Office on Sincil Street in Lincoln will move to The Stonebow Centre in just over three weeks.
The City Square Centre on Sincil Street is currently being redeveloped and the Post Office’s current branch in that location will close at 1pm on Tuesday, February 23.
Boyes is also vacating the unit in the centre, but has yet to find a new location.
The Post Office will move into a 1,836 square foot at Unit 7 at The Stonebow Centre on Silver Street, which was formerly occupied by Britannia Building Society.
Most over 65s in Lincolnshire care homes now COVID vaccinated

All Lincolnshire care home residents over the age of 65 have now been offered the first dose of the coronavirus vaccination.
All over 65s in 202 Lincolnshire care homes that are eligible were offered their first dose and everyone who accepted is believed to have now been vaccinated.
Care home residents will receive their second dose at their care home.
This means the county has met the first of the national target dates in the vaccination programme and has protected the highest percentage of its care home residents across the Midlands region.
