there. you don t have a campaign to embark on their own, so is this why you are dedicating me your political energies to the biden harris campaign? i m excited about supporting the biden harris campaign. we created this pack to ensure that we can replicate what we did in michigan in 2024, but also, beyond michigan. the fight for these fundamental freedoms does not end at state lines. that is, precisely, why supporting causes, and candidates, who are fighting to protect our elections, and our democracy, who are fighting to hold on to fundamental freedoms with, not just a michiganders, but to all americans. that is why our work, to create this fight like hell pack dot org a so important. we made some great strides in michigan, but make no mistake, this is an unprecedented moment in american history.
members of those legislatures, in minorities, who are usually powerless. was there any strategy developed for them in the minorities they are in and their legislatures? to try and work against this? you know i know all about being a minority. our caucus was in the minority in harrisburg for a decade, so one of the things we discussed today was our inner compacts. state surrounding areas where women don t have access to this critical health care, able to, safely, go to other states. we know that the federal government has done a lot for that, but we can look at states where i live in the commonwealth of pennsylvania, we have neighbors from ohio, from west virginia, frequently, crossing those state lines, that come to get this health care, to pennsylvania, to get it. in addition to that, we have state surrounding us like new york, new jersey, maryland, and delaware, and that are protecting providers, and have
reelection campaign. governor, thank you so much for joining us tonight. thank you lawrence, it is great to be with you. so, really, there has been a political revolution of search and mexican. the democratic party is watching. you had, for the first time in 40 years, democratic control of the state legislature there. how did all of this happen? a lot of hard work, lawrence. i have to tell, you we knew, with all of the threats to our democracy, to our fundamental freedoms, it was important we fought like hell. this is why we coalesced, we built a campaign, we stayed focused on the things that mattered, people, and we won. we didn t just win, but we won overwhelmingly, and flipped both chambers of our legislator in michigan. you see some states rolling rights back, taking away freedoms, michigan is moving in the opposite direction, and i m proud of that. on the gun safety legislation, you did something that, in most states, is
like candidate is a very important part of this campaign. i don t know about, that lawrence. i could just tell you, i m an ordinary person, i have an extraordinary job, i m serving an extraordinary times. i take very seriously the oath of office i took. to the constitution, to fighting for the people that i serve in the state of michigan, but michiganders are like americans everywhere. they work hard, they try to do right by their family, and loved ones, and they expect their leaders to do the same. that is why, as i think about the high stakes in this moment, the high stakes in this young democracy of ours, and the high stakes of these fundamental rights, whether it s lgbtq, or women s rights, or people of color, when we speak together, we are the majority. we get a seat at the table for every person, and that is why this work is so important. i may not be on the ballot next year, but it doesn t keep me
impossible at this point, politically. you had a horrible shooting within the state, and there was a reaction to it. there was a governing reaction. what were you able to accomplish? we, finally, got michigan on the right side of some common sense policies. simple things like background checks, and secure storage law, as well as red flag laws. these are the things that the average person expects, and wants to see. we, finally, we re able to get it done because i have this new legislature. we stayed focused we, listen to people, and i think if that is your north star, you will be successful. but, the people tell, as loud and clear, they expected fundamental rights, they expect democracy, and justice, into that this moment is still so very real, and scary, and why we have to stay vigilant, and continue to work to protect these things. how stable do you think that
