A teenager was killed and another teen arrested after an attempted robbery in North Linden resulted in the 12th homicide in 12 days in Columbus.
Police were called at about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a shooting at the E&E Market on the 700 block of East Hudson Street, just east of Interstate 71.
When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Kiran Hill, of the East Side, with a gunshot wound. Hill was taken in critical condition to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he died at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers also found a 33-year-old man at the scene who told officers that Hill and 17-year-old Josiah Cocroft, of the Southeast Side, had attempted to rob him outside the market.
Detectives have not identified any suspects or provided other information about the case.
Hardy s death was the fourth on Wednesday and the ninth homicide committed in the city in the first six days of 2021.
Homicide investigators have also identified a 62-year-old man who was killed early Wednesday on the city s Northeast Side.
Officers were called around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday to a Sunoco gas station on the 1700 block of East Hudson Street on the city s Northeast Side.
They found David Gaines, 62, of North Linden, who had been shot. Gaines was rushed to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, but he died from his injuries at 4:19 a.m. Wednesday. His death was the city s eighth homicide this year.

An injunction has been issued against a known after-hours club in north Toledo after several individuals were injured in a shooting on Nov. 27.
On Dec. 10, the Toledo Municipal Court granted the one year injunction. The location will be boarded and closed for one year.
The incident took place just after 2 a.m., according to Toledo police. Officers were on patrol in north Toledo when they heard multiple shots fired and two ShotSpotter alerts for 32 rounds total were received. ShotSpotter led them to the after-hours club on the 3200 block of Stickney Ave. and East Hudson.
