Gold prices dropped by Rs 220 from yesterday's close during Friday's early trade as 10 grams of 24-carat gold is trading at Rs 56,510. Silver prices, however, remained unchanged as 1 kg trading at Rs 68,800.
The price of 10 grams of 22-carat gold also fell by Rs 200 to trade at Rs 51,800, according to the GoodReturns website.
Equity benchmark indices climbed in initial trade on Monday amid a positive trend in Asian markets. The BSE Sensex climbed 165.9 points to 61,168.47. The NSE Nifty advanced 35.25 points to 17,979.45.
The rupee appreciated 10 paise to 82.66 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday on the back of a positive trend in domestic equities and relatively weaker greenback.
