was not a coffee boy. today the special prosecutor s office filed a status report. the prosecutor said the government issued 15 search and seizure warrants to obtain more than 400,000 documents including finance records, e-mail communications and corporate records from paul manafort and his business partner rick gates. the prosecutor tim also possesses image copies of 36 electronic devices such as laptops and smart phones. joining us now are joyce vance, a former u.s. attorney, and also natasha bertram, political correspondent at business insider, and president of the center for american progress. i want to start with you. the lock her up chant broke out tonight quite spontaneously at the trump rally. the president didn t have to lead it. it just broke out because fans, that remains their favorite chant as much as build the wall.
robert mueller, the special prosecutor, he s got a lot of information. rebecca, donald trump jr., after he released those e-mails about the origin of the trump tower meeting, one of the attendees asked why trump jr. was admitting what he called collusion. what does that tell you? it could tell us a lot, it could tell us nothing depending on what was the intent of the e-mail and the tone and we don t know if it is sarcastic, joking, making an illusion to the coverage that has been out there about this meeting or if they were being serious, if they were actually concerned that donald trump jr. had put himself in some legal jeopardy because of what they knew about what was discussed at this meeting that followed those e-mail communications. so we really don t know but it s an interesting detail and certainly something that investigate to haves are going to want to know more about. i m sure they will. mark preston, donald trump jr.

conduct, meaning an affirmative action, it s the failure to actually do something that can make you guilty or have liability, alex, and that s exactly what s happening to somebody like jared kushner. his failure to disclose the e-mail communications, the contact is problematic because this is exactly what mueller wants in his investigation. he s cast a huge, wide net to several different targets, and the organization that s coming in, e-mails, phone records, he s going to pick through each one of those and find the inconsistencies and the discrepancies, and that s how he s going to nail the next target for an indictment. as a sidebar, when you say guilt by omission, it brings me to jeff sessions, who keeps saying i don t recall. is that different? i don t recall is a safe zone for somebody like jeff sessions because it doesn t say i do, it doesn t say i did or i didn t. it basically says i don t remember. there s a big difference between that and abbe lowell who is counsel for jare
has been doing with the special counsel s office, that was unsealed at the same time as the charges were unsealed against manafort and gates. what s the connection there? there s nothing in the manafort and gates indictment that directly mentions george papadopoulos. there s nothing about russia at all in the manafort/gates indictment. there s plenty about russia in the papadopoulos documents, but there s no direct mention of manafort or gates. now, it s possible to sort of triangulate from some early reporting and some e-mails obtained by the washington post in august that basically show you that some of the people who were involved in e-mail communications around papadopoulos s russia proposals so those people may have been manafort and gates in an instance or two. but their names don t turn up in any of his paperwork. why is that? is there a connection between this kid pleading guilty and these guys getting indicted? why are they both getting unsealed the same day? why was papadopou
