means simplification and overhauling how you pay your taxes, what kind of deductions you are able to claim and all of that. if they don t propose something specific and expansive in terms of how you alter the structure of the code, it is not really tax reform. the one reason i m sus pirgs is reform is how you pay for it. and without that, we re not really dealing with tax reform. and if we are, then it s very, very complicated on the hill. if not, it s still complicated because of the deficit implications but it may be easier to create consensus because every republican is in favor of cutting taxes. they say this is the biggest tax reform in history, but we have not seen a single proposal which is reform rather than just a cut. and on dynamic scoring, this would take more. it would take wicked dynamic
the weeds here but this means more money for the government. normally they pretend like cutting taxes doesn t mean more growth. the bottom line is cut taxes, absolutely shrink the government, grow the real world economy. that will mean more money for american families and more money for the government, by the way. so cut taxes. use dynamic scoring. it s honest scoring. neil: so far it looks like they re not going to remove or alter popular deductions for mortgages, charitable contributions, that sort of thing but they re looking at maybe limiting if not totally eliminating the deduction you get with your state and local taxes. now, in high tax states like new york and jersey and california, that could be a tough sell. less so in states like yours. but what do you think of that? look, i tried to get rid of the income tax in louisiana. you re right, we re a lower tax
we ll be fine. that said, let s bracket that for a second. it has been the record of republicans this is something republicans have been consistent on. ronald reagan, huge deficit, financed tax cut. george bush. we re going to get a big deficit, financed tax cut. at the same time republicans are saying they care about balanced budgets, but the proof is in the pudding. the deficits go up under republican presidents. why not just be honest about what they re doing? i think they believe in this idea of dynamic scoring, and i ve warned them about it. you know, i say if you dynamically score taxes, then you re going to have democrats dynamically score pespending on domestic programs, so it s dangerous. i do believe there is a legitimate amount of dynamic scoring, but if you overdo it, you re kansas, right? you just cut the taxes, bus you don t pay for it, and then you go in the hole. do you think kansas is a disaster? i really haven t studied it except i know they re very much in th
financed tax cut. george bush. we re going to get a big deficit, financed tax cut. at the same time republicans are saying they care about balanced budgets, but the proof is in the pudding. the deficits go up under republican presidents. why not just be honest about what they re doing? i think they believe in this idea of dynamic scoring, and i ve warned them about it. you know, i say if you dynamically score taxes, then you re going to have democrats dynamically score spending on domestic programs, so it s dangerous. i do believe there is a legitimate amount of dynamic scoring, but if you overdo it, you re kansas, right? you just cut the taxes, bus you don t pay for it, and then you go in the hole. do you think kansas is a disaster? i really haven t studied it except i know they re very much in the hole, and i think they what they did is they passed a dessert without paying for it. so in my state, when i cut taxes, which i believe in i think low taxes are critical we didn
job. can it be better? absolutely. i agree with you. it could be improved. but that doesn t mean it is going to be paid for. we are going to have massive red ink. use the words of george h. bush that called dynamic scoring voodoo economics. i hope it works. but it didn t work in 1991 or 1989. gork h.w. bush admitted he was wrong. so george h.w. bush admitted it wasn t voodoo economics. it worked. we had the biggest boom in american history. thank you very much. appreciate your takes. helpful to the show and the audience. all right. so the president ran on the promise to be a jobs creator. that s what we re talking about what s going to be in this plan. how are we doing with jobs? you heard the two experts talking about it.
