The effort was fine, but associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said the Maine Nordiques had bad luck on Friday.
The Northeast Generals (19-28-6, 44 points) capitalized and came away with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Nordiques (32-19-2, 66 points) in a North American Hockey League East Division junior hockey game in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
“(The Generals’) first two goals were off of skates,” Pinchevsky said. “So, they didn’t really score them they go up on the scoreboard, but their first two goals go off of skates. And we made a mistake on the (penalty kill), which led to their only power play goal of the game. I would say our power play could have buried (a goal), but they did get some chances.
The Maine Nordiques’ top line was a force Friday night.
Cannon Green, Stefan Owens and Makem Demers each scored a goal as the Nordiques defeated the Northeast Generals 4-3 in a North American Hockey League East Division game at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.
Green also had two assist to finish the contest with three points, while Owens and Demers each had one assist.
“It was just a matter of time, those guys are doing everything the right way and they go about their business, day in and day out,” Maine Nordiques coach Nolan Howe said. “We see it in practice, and for them to be rewarded for their efforts, we certainly like to see it.”

Tyler Gaulin scored on a pass from Isaiah Fox with eight seconds left to lift the Maine Nordiques past the Northeast Generals, 3-2, Tuesday afternoon at Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.
“It was a lot of fun to be a part of,” Nordiques coach Nolan Howe said. “I thought our team was in control throughout the game, and it was one of our most complete performances of the season, so it was nice to come out with a win.”
Gaulin’s game-winner finished off a trend in the game where a goal was scored in the final minute of each period.
