COVID-19: Taylor County recoveries outpace new cases Monday The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District now is leaving a voicemail when calling people on the COVID-19 vaccine waiting list to set an appointment. People are asked to call back as soon as possible because vaccines are limited and appointments are not guaranteed, according to a Monday post on the city s Facebook page. Taylor County recoveries outpace new cases Monday The health district Monday reported 31 new COVID-19 cases and 80 recoveries.

COVID-19: Taylor County adds 3 deaths, 163 cases Thursday

The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Thursday reported three deaths linked to COVID-19, 163 new cases and 103 recoveries. The deceased – one man in his 60s and two men in their 80s – bring the total number of county deaths to 210. The three men had preexisting health conditions, officials said.  The 163 new cases are based on 59 polymerase chain reaction tests and 104 antigen tests.  Active cases total 2,066 (830 PCR cases and 1,236 antigen cases). A week ago on Dec. 31, combined active cases numbered 2,198.  The number of COVID-19 inpatients at Abilene facilities is 129, which is eight fewer than reported Wednesday. The inpatients include 38 out-of-county residents.  Hendrick Health System on Wednesday reported the COVID-19 inpatients number for Abilene s trauma service area was 23.54% of the area s total hospital beds, up from its Tuesday report of 22.07% and the highest mark to date.
