If these walls could talk … That expression came to mind the other day while standing outside J.P. Small Park, the baseball stadium at the corner of 8th Street and Myrtle Avenue in Durkeeville. If walls could talk, which ones in Jacksonville would you want to hear speak? It’s tempting to say the walls of the Florida Theatre, with all their stories of Elvis and others who’ve passed through. Or maybe some of the crumbling walls of ruins in the Timucuan Preserve, with stories of the people who lived there. Or perhaps the restored walls of the old St. James Building, now City Hall. (I imagine the feds investigating the JEA saga would appreciate it if those walls could talk.)
