Eight people have been arrested and three Police Officers taken to hospital after rioting in the City Centre during far right protests linked to the Knife Attack in southport earlier this week, in which three children died. Stones, Scaffolding And Beer barrels were thrown at officers and a Police Building was set on fire. Our reporter olly constable has more from sunderland. Well, the alarms are blaring and theres still quite a large Police Presence here in sunderland City Centre. And it follows that night of violence. You can see behind me a Police Office that was attacked during that violence. The window has been smashed and insulation has been pulled down and an adjoining unit as well was set alight. The damage thats been caused is extensive, the Air Thick with that putrid smoke. Some of the damage you can see, youve got glass on the floor as well as lots of rubble. And it was some of that rubble that was thrown towards Police Officers yesterday, along with stones and glass bottles.
