The Dubai Criminal court has sentenced three women of Arab origin to a six-month jail term and also imposed a fine of Dh5,000 each followed by deportation to their home country after they were convicted for exploiting their children and using them for begging. The Dubai Police’s investigation revealed that one of the women were arrested near a commercial centre after the authorities at Naif police station acted on a tip-off. A man, also of Arab origin, said an eight-year-old Arab boy was found to be begging from passersby on the streets.

Dubai: The Dubai Civil Court ordered three medics and a surgery centre in Dubai that conducted a nose-job that left an Emirati woman in coma to pay Dh10 million compensation. The doctors, who worked at a day surgery centre, were convicted for medical malpractice that led to the permanent disability of 25-year-old Rawdha Abdullah Al Maeeni. Earlier last year, Dubai Cassation Court upheld the one-year prison sentence for the 59-year-old ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeon from the Dominican Republic, 65-year-old anaesthetist from Syria and 69-year-old technician, also from Syria. They will be deported after they serve their prison terms. The medical centre has been fined Dh300,000.

A security official at the construction site got suspicious as the worker was seen to be leaving with a bag in his hand. The official, who is also an eyewitness in the ongoing trial, tried to question the worker, but he appeared perturbed by the move.
