IPHA accepts rollover extending four year supply agreement for medicines during pandemic
Patients are to get access to more of the latest treatment options following the release of an estimated €30 million aimed at clearing a ‘backlog’ of new medicines, according to the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA).
The move comes in addition to the industry agreeing to roll over an extension to the existing four-year supply Agreement with the State.
The 15 ‘backlogged’ new medicines are to treat patients with a range of diseases, including lung cancer, renal cell carcinoma, urethral carcinoma, leukaemia, Parkinson’s disease and chronic migraine.
A number of the medicines have already been approved by the Executive Management Team of the Health Service Executive (HSE). The HSE is planning their rollout.
