Michigan’s Superintendent of Public Instruction visited Detroit, a day after the leader of Detroit Public Schools Community District said hundreds of jobs will need to be cut.
From the looks of it, the windfall from all of that COVID funding has ended at Detroit schools. Now, the district is eyeing staffing cuts, and the plan isn't going over well.
The Detroit Public School Community District (DPSCD) has 2,000 fewer students than before the pandemic which means about $20 million less in funding for the district.
