we are in a budget crisis. gregg: one example a fire chief got a $900,000 lump sum. mind you he ll get annual pension for life. you got a deputy police chief, $700,000 lump sum. all the while they are collecting a paycheck, too. right, absolutely. double dipping, clearly. the voters approved this. gregg: they were desperate. they were. a lot of veterans were leaving the force. this was seen as one way to keep them going. there was some corruption issues but city officials they demand basically the money from unions. they need the money from unions to get re-elected so it s hard to say exactly where it begins and where it ends. gregg: former administrative officer when they presented this plan, i was amazed at this.
