WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - New Hanover County Fire Rescue will conduct live fire training in the Monkey Junction area on Monday, Feb. 22.
The training will take place at 615 Piner Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Nearby residents and businesses potentially will see smoke in the area.
“This training is a great opportunity for our staff to gain valuable knowledge and practical experience while operating in a safe environment that closely resembles real life fire ground situations,” said NHCFR Chief Donnie Hall. “Firefighters will be able to observe fire behavior in all stages of fire growth, move and direct fire hose streams for the purpose of fire attack, and practice water supply operations. A woman who disappeared on Thanksgiving has been found dead just a mile-and-a-half from her Kentucky home. Her boyfriend has been charged with her murder.
Jill Clayton was reported missing after she failed to show up to Thanksgiving dinner. Her boyfriend, Gary Jefferies, claimed she had stayed home because she was sick.
On Friday, Clayton s body was found covered in a pile of leaves and debris in a wooded area near Wolf Hollow Road in Morehead.
