Family members of a woman who was in long-term care want to know why it took nearly a month to be told she had died. The care home said it can’t comment on the case because of privacy legislation but that when a resident dies, “it follows all proper procedures for notification of substitute decision makers and powers of attorney as outlined in the resident’s chart.”
Finding new ways to offset the loss of funds traditionally earmarked for the Empty Pantry Fund has led to a revamped initiative to encourage online donations via the organizationâs website and social media.
EPFâs 12 Days of Christmas Giving begins Monday, Dec. 14, and continues through Christmas Day. According to EPF President Lon Fox, âEach day we will have a promotional message encouraging donors on social media to donate to the Empty Pantry Fund.â
As a special incentive, Lamon Jewelers in Maryville has donated a cushion-cut garnet pendant set in a 14-karat yellow gold bezel on a sterling silver chain to be awarded to one online donor who will be chosen at random at the end of the promotion. The pendant is valued at $246.
