Bury s libraries prepare to welcome back book lovers

Radcliffe Library LIBRARIES are preparing to welcome back visitors who have missed the pleasure of browsing for books in person. Radcliffe Library will be the first to reopen its doors, on Wednesday, April 21, with the borough’s remaining branches in Ramsbottom, Prestwich and Bury following over the coming weeks. Radcliffe will be open from 1pm to 4pm, from Tuesdays to Fridays. In order to maintain social distancing, each library will only be able to allow a limited number of people in at any one time. Customers will be greeted at the library entrance by a member of staff who will explain the new procedures for browsing. Customers will be asked to sanitise their hands on entry and it is compulsory to wear a face covering when visiting the library; customers will also need to provide contact details for the Track and Trace programme. All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours before returning to the library shelves

Council licensing bosses investigated a complaint, which came into their department in mid-August, according to the minutes of the latest licensing panel. The referral is said to have been made by a Bury Council safeguarding practitioner , the panel has been told. In a report, the council s executive operations director Donna Ball said: The referral detailed an incident wherein a licensed private hire driver had behaved inappropriately with two vulnerable females.
