Genre films and series are on the rise, and a growing number of initiatives are taking shape in France with a view to surfing this new wave, with the American group Blumhouse often serving as their model. Following the creation of the Parasomnia Productions label at the beginning of the year, steered by Moana Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment France, it’s now the turn of the powerful sales agent Wild Bunch International to enter into the fray in partnership with Capricci, bringing about the birth of the Wild West label.
Amrita David (the directorâs trusty editor), the story sees thirty-something novelist Rama attend the trial of Laurence Coly at the Saint-Omer Criminal Court. The latter is accused of killing her fifteen-month-old daughter by abandoning her on a beach in the north of France just as the tide was rising. Rama would like to use this story to write a modern-day adaptation of the ancient myth of Medea, but things donât go as planned during the trial. Ultimately, it will be Ramaâs relationship with motherhood which is called into question during this âhuis closâ trialâ¦
