British students are being forced to pay thousands more for university accommodation as corporate landlords rewrite contracts to appeal to wealthy foreigners.
The Department for Education is “urgently investigating” reports that Russell Group universities are asking UK students to meet higher entry standards than international applicants.
Some leading universities are using recruitment agents to offer places to overseas students with significantly lower grades than UK applicants, it was reported on Saturday.
