One of Bottausci’s key goals is to boost Dollard’s financial profile.
“I’m trying to rebalance the finances of the city. We’ve always been known as a bedroom community, which is a good thing. That’s the ideology of the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s. Today, actually, I’m rebranding Dollard into the concept of ‘work, live and play.’ I’m trying to bring in more of a commercial element to Dollard-des-Ormeaux, more densification on our commercial arteries. It would give us greater tax revenues and offset taxes on the residential side.”
He said the city is also tackling long-term projects while keeping taxes low.
