call it in 2016 would probably do worse than mitt romney did in 2012. i know a lot of people disagree with me but that s my view and i think this race in the end goes down as one of the most significant repudiations of establishment immigration reform that certainly i ve seen in my20 years of doing politics. that is one thing that is agreed upon across the board doesn t matter left, right, in between, everybody agrees this is a major upset. most political reporters had all gone home thinking this was look we had to drag in look what the cat dragged in. the cat did well. look at these guys. we re waiting. we re very exciting. we did so well. megyn, i was here. you guys don t get any credit. we ll talk about something else. listen, you guys stand by
something that was outright proven and criminal, to something that you are speculating that maybe some to doing overly open work. you have groups accepted bing out mitt romney literature and wanting tax exemptions. the irs was just doing their job. i always thought this was a phony scandal in i do want the irs to double check with a group doing politics. the barack obama in conservatives minds is the ogre who every time the real barack obama comes out and is on television is so completely different that that s why their narrative is so absurd. it s absurd when you just listen to obama. rev, we shouldn t go ahead, karen.
between 2009 and 2012, there s a two foldp increase of those applying for the tax exem status. the i.g. report concluded a lot of clearance was given to groups clearly not social welfare groups, doing politics. so in your estimation, putting aside the mall feasance that happened at the irs what does the government do about the rise of all these 501 c 4 groups and the issue of broader issue of money and politics? well again, they have 90,000 employees. they need to find a way to process these on an equal footing so there s no discrimination, no intimidation, so that everybody gets the same opportunity to make sure their application gets processed and approved on a timely basis. this has been going on for a couple years. but i think i hope that it s not beyond this. there s a lot of people we re hearing from now that have concerns, individuals that might have been donors, companies, organizations, other organizations, so this could be a much broader than just, you know, the people we
don t see in american politics which is touting the record as a moderate and someone who got things done in washington. the race is interest, because we have talked a lot about the republican caucus being really fractured and sort of shifting sands in terms of right, the magnet magnets moving right, and here in massachusetts, you have elizabeth warren who is a strong liberal candidate and scott brown who is of course a republican, but he is very moderate and it is going to be really interesting to see how the democrats react to that. to this local way of doing politics without talking about politics. this is the guy who drove in a pickup truck, and remember he won election and a special election, but he won in massachusetts because he knows the state. and the thing about scott brown is that, you know, he ran as a tea party candidate when he was winning the special election. he had a lot of support from the tea party and conservatives and now he is walking away from the support.
and honing it in today saying he has failed that litmus test, he has failed the leadership test saying everything else he can be taught but you can t be taught how to load and make decisions. do you expect to hear more than that going forward now? i would certainly think so. the president doesn t have anything positive to run on. he doesn t have any results that he can point to with pride that will get more people to vote for him. and his failure of leadership is everywhere. it s in evidence everywhere. the attacks on republicans that, you know, he had control of both houses of congress for the first two years of his presidency. in the end it s going to boil down to results. and the president fails to lead, he doesn t bring people together, he s very, see devisive, he divides not only republican, democrat, conservative and liberal. along lines of race and class in particular, gender, sexual preference, you name it this president divides us and it s just their way of doing politics. i
