grappling with is whether or not the shooter was an active duty service member. this is the second major shooting at a navel base just in the last two days, an active duty shooter in hawaii at pearl harbor opened fire at a maintenance facility there on wednesday, killing two dod civilian personnel and injuring a third. and now of course we ve seen this shooting today, which obviously is even more devastating in terms of numbers. the navy has really been struggling in the last few years with suicide rates, with mental health issues. they used to be one of the better service branches. they had very low suicide rates. since 2006 the number has doubled. it s still below other service branches, but it is higher than the civilian rate. so i think the two big questions at our end right now are was this guy active duty service,
