SpiceXpress takes off to Kolkata with shrimp weighing 15 tonnes
The first dedicated freight service from Vijayawada International Airport began on Saturday with the SpiceJet’s cargo service, SpiceXpress, taking off to Kolkata with goods weighing about 15 tonnes.
Airport Director G. Madhusudhana Rao, along with Domestic Cargo Terminal custodian K. Venkata Rama Rao, SpiceJet’s cargo sales manager (South) K. Siva Kumar, and AAI cargo manager Abraham Lincoln, formally inaugurated the service on the airport premises.

Drive organised by Vellore Corporation to promote proper disposal of garbage Segregate waste and get a chance to win gold and silver coins. This is the latest initiative taken by the Vellore City Municipal Corporation, along with a social activist, to promote source segregation.
On Saturday, four residents who consistently segregated waste as biodegradable and non-biodegradable were awarded gold and silver coins respectively.
There are four zones in Vellore City Municipal Corporation and a total of 168 metric tonne of waste is generated daily. Though most of the residents segregate the waste and dispose of it, they do not do it consistently.
