Maria Kanellis On If She’s Interested In Wrestling Again
As a 17-year veteran of the professional wrestling industry, Maria Kanellis has found herself working in numerous promotions.
Speaking to the DropKick Podcast, the First Lady discussed her career starting with the Divas Search and working with Paul Heyman in OVW.
“Paul gave me an opportunity to grow, which is incredible and that’s why he has such a great mind for industry,” Maria said. “He’s willing to listen to what the talent wants to create, so being able to do that was incredible.
“I think that the biggest thing with Paul has always been that wrestling is not based on a thousand different moments. It’s not a thousand different storylines or like your legacy isn’t built of a thousand things. Sometimes it’s just built off of one thing.”
Eva Marie is apparently getting closer to a WWE TV return.
After months of rumors and speculation, Eva at one point was internally scheduled to appear on Monday’s Legends Night of RAW, according to Fightful Select. There’s no word on if Eva will still be appearing on Monday’s show, but she has not been advertised in the Legends Night promos.
Furthermore, it was noted that Marie was backstage at the December 14 RAW taping from Tropicana Field, and was dressed to do promos. There’s also no word on when these promos will air.
It was first reported back in mid-October that Marie was set to return to WWE, possibly as soon as the 2020 WWE Draft edition of RAW on October 12, but that obviously never happened. Marie has been seen several times at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, beginning in September. Another report noted that Marie came to terms on a return contract during the week of September 20. Back in 2006, Maryse never imagined that her future husband, The Miz, would sit before her as one of the judges that would determine her fate to become the next WWE Diva. During her interview on
Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Maryse recalls the first time she met her husband at her Divas Search audition and how nitpicky he was at her responses.
“I remember I get up on the stage, and there are a ton of lights and people there, and Mike goes, ‘Tell us why we should pick you to win this Divas Search, ” Maryse recalls. “And I go, ‘Oh, hi, my name is Maryse.’ And then, I start talking, and he stopped me. He said, ‘No, no, no. We don’t want a beauty pageant answer; we want a real answer.’ So, I’m standing there going, ‘[Starts to chuckle nerviously] Ok. ”
