Southeast Iowa Housing, Inc. partnered with Southeastern Community College (SCC), to have their construction trades class gain valuable real-world experience by building a house in Burlington.
SEIRPC Executive Director Mike Norris announced recently that a family has purchased the home at 2208 Amelia Street, at the corner of Amelia Street and Hagemann Avenue.
Norris said he is excited by the project s results.
“New home construction is key to adding value in existing neighborhoods, he said. “Infill projects like this are important to encourage investment and create new housing opportunities.”
The City of Burlington acquired and demolished a dilapidated home on the site.
