The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee (which manages Varanasi’s Gyanvapi mosque) has moved an application before the Varanasi Court opposing the Archaeological Survey of India s (ASI) plea seeking.
Prayagraj/Varanasi: The Allahabad High Court on Thursday gave the go-ahead for a scientific survey at Gyanvapi, dismissing a Muslim body’s petition which had challenged a lower court order asking the ASI to perform the survey to determine if the 17th-century mosque was built over a temple.
The district court order is just and proper, and there is no need to meddle
The Allahabad High Court allowed the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi rejecting the Muslim side s plea of stopping the survey. ASI team will start conducting the survey shortly as directed by the court.
