DICKINSON Southwest Area Career and Technical Education Academy got one step closer to its goal of offering vocational and trades educational facilities to middle, high school and college students. During a Dec. 6 special meeting, the Dickinson Public School Board approved new funding for the project after finalizing construction bids.
Teacher negotiations are coming to an end, with approvals needed by both sides to be finalized. The collective bargaining agreement took multiple meetings over two months to achieve and will provide clearer guidance and contractual obligations for both sides on hot button issues.
“(So) less talk about purchasing school buses and putting shingles on roofs… Not that those don’t matter, but we’re all here for kids,” Superintendent Marcus Lewton said.
Teacher negotiations between Dickinson Public School Board and Dickinson Education Association are ongoing, with PTO language for educators taking center stage.
