LISBON Deliberations are expected to continue today for a Columbiana County Common Pleas Court jury considering two days of testimony regarding the severe scalding injuries suffered in a bathtub by the 7-year-old daughter of a Winona area man.
Joseph Messenger, 28, Woodsdale Road, Hanoverton, is charged with endangering children, a third-degree felony and a first-degree misdemeanor assault. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison.
During closing arguments on Wednesday afternoon, Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones reminded the jury of the testimony they had heard from Detective Jordan Reynolds, medical experts, a children’s advocate and even the child herself, now 8 years old, who testified from the courtroom next door by closed video.

Five bullet holes are visible in one window at a Salem Acres apartment in the 1100 block of Prospect Street where two unidentified shooters and possibly a third, opened fire on a residentâs car and dwelling early Thursday, leaving 31 shell casings behind.
