Police: Teen discharges gun at Cocoa home, killing 2-year-old boy
Cocoa police say they are looking for a teen accused of accidentally shooting and killing a 2-year-old boy.
LAKE MARY, Fla. - Cocoa police officers have arrested a 16-year-old boy in the fatal shooting of a 2-year-old boy.
The teenager is facing a charge of manslaughter with a firearm and is being turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice where he will be held for a minimum of 21-days while the State Attorney’s Office determines how to proceed with prosecution.

POLICE SAY A GROUP OF TEENS WERE PLAYING WITH A GUN AT A MOBILE HOME WHEN IT WENT OFF AND KILLED A LITTLE BOY. I SAW THE BABY ON THE GROUND AND THE MOTHER SCREAMING AND YELLING WITH BLOOD ALL OVER HERE. SANIKA: A MONDAY MORNING CRY THAT PIERCED THROUGH THE SUNRISE VILLAGE MOBILE HOME PARK IN COCOA. I DIDN’T REALLY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON UNTIL I HEARD FROM ONE OF THE OTHER NEIGHBORS, SAYING THAT THE BABY WAS SHOT. THE MOTHER WAS HYSTERICAL, AND THE BABY WAS IN NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. SANIKA: COCOA POLICE SAY THE MINUTE THEY ARRIVED AT THE MOBILE HOME ON OWOSSO STREET MONDAY MORNING THEY BEGAN CPR ON THE 2-YEAR-OLD BOY, WHO WAS SHOT. BUT IT WAS TOO LATE.
