Is a Nobel Prize worth something, or just an advertisement?
Here’s a fun fact: the Nobel Prize is named after the inventor of dynamite.
I’ve always had it in my head that the Nobel Prize is the highest honour a human can earn, an idea I absorbed sometime between the ages of four and eight and nursed into my teens and twenties without really thinking about it.
There’s been an admirable amount of buzz around this year’s Nobel Prizes, especially considering all the other shiny objects in cyberspace clamouring for our attention.
However, for the first year ever, I found myself questioning if the Nobels are really worth, well, anything.

The Decemberistsâ latest album,
Long Live The King, is a basically the B-side to their last album,
The King Is Dead. This being said, it gives ardent Decemberists fans the verve theyâve been looking for. It is a spirit that was notably absent in their last album, which was met somewhat disappointingly. This album, although only six tracks long, manages to give fans a taste of the old spunk and bite of vintage Decemberists sound.
That being said, the first two tracks are not especially good examples of this. As most of the promotional material attached to this EP will tell you, the collection of songs on

Usually the brief descriptions of plays in the DFest program don’t have a chance at describing everything that occurs in a show, but this one sticks pretty close to its two-line description: “Emily and her imaginary lover, the Man in White, go to buy strawberries. Along the way they meet Craig who slowly changes everything.”
In a nutshell: Emily teaches Craig that sometimes daydreams are just as important as reality, and Craig teaches Emily that reality is just as important as daydreams. It’s the kind of cliché plot that unfortunately didn’t work for me.
