During the Oct. 12 Bethel City Council meeting, four newly elected council members were sworn in. Then the council voted to renew a series of pandemic mitigation measures, including a mask mandate. The measures passed easily, but the mask mandate came up against some rare opposition from an audience member and a new council member.
The sitting council members are expected to vote to accept the results of last week’s election. The council members-elect are newcomer Mary “Beth” Hessler; incumbents Conrad “CJ” McCormick and Mark Springer; and Eric Whitney, who has previously sat on city council.
The official results for the 2021 Bethel City Council election are in. The candidates who won seats in order of most to least votes include incumbent Conrad “CJ” McCormick with 342 votes, incumbent Mark Springer with 291 votes, former council member Eric Whitney with 282 votes, and newcomer Mary "Beth" Hessler with 242 votes.
